February, with its Be Mine hearts and red roses and boxed chocolates, seems designed to celebrate traditional, romantic love. But February is also home to Mardi Gras, with its wild costumes, street dancing and hedonistic revelry, all designed to celebrate the joys of the flesh. Finally, it’s also the month of a variety of international Pride celebrations. So whatever your love style, make this your hottest February yet.

But surrounding the march is a vast array of parties, exhibitions, workshops, cabarets, readings, and sporting events. Don’t miss the Midsumma Carnival, featuring live music, live performances, a T dance hosted by The Beastie Girls, and dog show. Boasting 194 events in 100 venues, this is a party not to be missed.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras
February 14 - March 1, Sydney, Australia
The biggest, gayest party in Australia is set to go down on Valentine’s Day and last for two weeks, culminating in the February 29 parade, which attracts over 8,500 participants and hundreds of thousands of spectators. This year’s theme is What Matters, a nod to the event’s protest origins, as organizers ask participants what (and who) they are willing to fight for. Share your answers to the central question at the array of art parties, panels, films, theatre and music performances, or on one of the many packed dance floors. In addition to the parade, there’s a family-friendly Fair Day carnival, a vogueing party known as The Sissy Ball, and Circuit-style parties. Packed with top tier performers, this queer celebration combines the personal with the political for an epic good time.
