The 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were hosted last Sunday, May 4. The Queen of Pop herself was honored with this year’s Advocate for Change Award for a lifetime of supporting the LGBTQ community.
During her acceptance speech, Madonna said, “As soon as you really understand what it means to love, you understand what it takes to become a human being and that it is every human’s duty to fight, to advocate, to do whatever we can and whatever it takes. MADAME X is a FREEDOM FIGHTER.” You can watch her full remarks here.
In addition to Madonna, Andy Cohen was awarded the Vito Russo award, which was presented to him by Sarah Jessica Parker. The award is given to an LGBTQ media professional each year for working to benefit and promote equality in the community.
