Covid has created uncertain times.
Uncertainty around our health and safety. Uncertainty in our relationships. And, uncertainty concerning our financial stability and employment status.
With more than 47 million Americans on unemployment, and college graduates struggling to find work, it’s no wonder why many of us are considering a change in careers.
But, what kind of career choices are available that are both Covid and economy-proof, where you can work from home, and still make a decent living?
Enter the Sex Coaching industry.
Sex Sells in the Time of Covid
While other industries are struggling, such as retail, hotels, sports and restaurants, COVID 19 has led to growth in the sexual wellness market.
As the saying goes, “Sex sells”, and sex, it seems, is also recession-proof.
Reports suggest that the global sexual wellness market is expanding and “is expected to reach USD 40 billion by 2025” due to an increase in digital sales and online marketing strategies, as well as a “significant growth” in healthcare services, including sexual wellness. The Personal and Life Coaching industry is currently at $1 billion and growing, with individuals seeking advice regarding “relationships, health, and more.” Other industries seeing growth include technology, digital entertainment, and online learning, all of which a savvy sex coach can take advantage of.
And, while the majority of us are having less sex during covid, over 65% feel that intimacy and connection is even more important now than ever. In fact, many of us getting creative as we expand our “sexual repertoire” to include new activities, sexual positions, roleplaying and sexual fantasies, sex toys, bdsm activities, three-some’s and more.
Other reports indicate that Americans are suffering from conflicts in their romantic relationships and experiencing decreased intimacy, with “less hugging, kissing, cuddling or holding hands”, a decrease in oral sex, intercourse, and shared masturbation, while solo masturbation is on the rise.
These stats indicate that the need for guidance in areas of sexual health, pleasure and intimate relationships is even more in demand than it ever has been before.
We need more sex coaches now!
Crisis is a Catalyst for Change
Crisis can be a catalyst for change. It can also cause us to re-evaluate our life, jobs and relationships, giving us the opportunity to make changes that are more fulfilling, aligned with our values, strengths and life’s purpose, so we can seek out those things that make us happy.
And, since one-third of our lives is spent on the job, you may as well make the most of it and choose a career you enjoy, one that gives you purpose.

Is Sex Coaching for You?
If you are interested in exploring sex coaching as a career, you may be wondering if you have what it takes.
What kind of person makes a good sex coach?
The good news is, since sex coaching is so diverse, just about anyone could become a great sex coach. You just need a passion for helping others on issues of self-esteem, love, romance, relationships, intimacy and human sexuality.
There are also many types of careers that are aligned with sex coaching and could easily transition into a new career path.
Anyone who would like to add sex coaching services to their existing business and gain the competitive advantage over other consultants with their advanced training including:
- Life Coaches, Health Coaches, Yoga Practitioners or Trainers.
- Nurses, Holistic Practitioners, Natural Healers.
- Ministers, Spiritual Workers.
- Psychology and Human Sexuality Students.
- Massage Therapists and Sex Workers.
- Therapists and Councillors, or Social Workers.
- Educators and entrepreneurs.
Of course, being passionate, open, and positive about sex is also a given. However, many people become sex coaches because they have been sexually inhibited in the past, are lacking in sexual knowledge, or want to overcome some sexual issues that they themselves are suffering from. Often, we feel called to teach the things that challenge us most.
What Do Sex Coaches Do?
Sex Coaches are like superheros and have a wide range of amazing skills.
Sex coaches share positive and accurate information with respect to relationships, intimacy and sexuality. This helps them to enable their clients to get positive results and enjoy healthy sexual relationships.
Sex coaches listen to their clients to help them determine their goals. They may give their client homework, or as we like to call it “Lovework”, such as exploring their body to find out where their erogenous zones are and how to pleasure themselves.
Sex coaches may give their clients various resources and tools or teach them new sexual techniques and exercises. Some sex coaches are body workers or somatic healers who help their clients with hands-on techniques.
Sex coaches often take a holistic approach as they monitor a client’s progress, while providing feedback that allows their client to thrive, prosper and flourish sexually, mentally, emotionally and physically.
Sex is our second basic instinct after survival, so natural urges begin between the ears before they arouse between the legs. Therefore, sharing knowledge on sex can lead to sexual satisfaction and fulfillment.
What Career Opportunities Are Available for Sex Coaches?
Sex coaching is an “umbrella” term for many diverse niches. The cool thing about becoming a sex coach is that you can create a niche that is totally unique and aligned with your own skills, life experiences, and interests.
- You could be a Dating Expert who helps seniors get back into the dating world.
- You could choose a career as a Tantra Practitioner teaching couples how to create more intimacy via sacred sexual techniques.
- How about a Relationship Coach who helps people transition from divorce or the loss of their partner?
- Or, a Sexual Empowerment Coach who counsels and supports people with gender dysphoria or body dysmorphia?
The possibilities are endless, from Love Guru, to Sex Toy Consultant, Professional Matchmaker, to Intimacy and Pleasure Coach, Somatic Healer or body worker, to a public speaker, sexpert author or media personality.

Great idea. I want to be a Sex Coach.
Domina says
I agree. You do need to be somewhat savvy about sex to begin with, or at least willing to learn and open to sex ed (both in theory and in practice). However, I think most people with an interest would be able to take on that challenge, otherwise, there would be no sense in becoming a Sex Coach if there was no interest in the field. To be able to do any career, you need to learn something yourself, so not sure what you mean by that 🙂

It’s somehow all too easy to make this jump by reading this article. To become a Sex Coach, you have to learn something yourself. And not everyone is given this in principle.
